Deep thinking.

I have a few big fears.
One is not being good enough.
The other is that I won't be able to leave any mark on the world...
like I won't accomplish anything worth being remembered for.

In the makings.

It used to be an empire waist dress with a full circle skirt.
I detached the skirt and used the fabric to make the tiers for this dress.
I was inspired by the 1920s flapper dresses.
Here it's just pinned. Nowhere near finished yet!
It's starting to take shape though, and I am quite happy with the results!

MK's dress on the left was my inspiration for this design.

This week.

So, I got the wedges.
They're comfy, sleek and look great with jeans, leggings and dresses.
Good buy? I'd say so.

School is crazy hectic this week.
I have tons of reading, my term paper to do, reviewing for exams, trying to sleep somewhere in there...
The sad thing?
I still spend a great deal of time looking at clothes online, going on lookbook and planning outfits.
That right there is motivation.

Zooey Deschanel

I love this hair style.
Once my hair is longer, I'm going back to bangs!
Kind of 60s-esque.

Minimalism. Minimalist Chic style.

On the Aritzia blog a while back, they had a post about minimalist style. I got this picture off there!

I love the contrast of textures in this outfit - the leather with the cashmere coat (which I got for Christmas!) Btw, I would kill for those boots. I also like how the colors tend to be neutral (the only color I really wear is my Wilfred tapestry scarf). What do you think about leather (or pleather) leggings? What I like about minimalism is that each piece you wear gets more attention because it isn't covered up with eight layers. It also gives a bit of a "model off duty" look! Somehow I landed on this whole minimalist chic style, and I think this one may stick around for a long time! Kind of Audrey-Hepburn-esque don't you think?

Motivation.

I have none.

My Icon.

"For beautiful eyes, look for the good in others; for beautiful lips, speak only words of kindness; and for poise, walk with the knowledge that you are never alone." - Audrey Hepburn

...

I'm reading about the addictive properties of caffeine and drinking my third cup of coffee today.
There is nothing wrong with that picture, right?

Food for thought.

One of my friends said "I don't understand why girls do their hair and makeup and dress nicely every day. Who are they trying to impress?"

Personally, I think this is a load of crap. Just because someone dresses well and pulls themselves together does not mean that they are trying to impress someone. I dress well because it makes me feel good and I love wearing nice clothes. I feel more confident when I'm pulled together and I get taken more seriously. I also just enjoy getting ready - new day, new look. I mean of course there will be days you'll just wear leggings and a big sweater, but still!

My style.

Recently (mostly since I've started shopping at Aritzia) I have fallen in love with my minimalist chic style. And what may be a bit of a confession...I love the Olsen twins style. That is, when they don't look like they're wearing housecoats on the street.
I wish so badly that I could wear heels without being in pain. One pair of shoes that I would do almost anything to get my foot in is the Sam Edelman "Zoe" boot (and not just because the Olsen twins have them). Take a look at the gorgeous shoe!

Personal.

As it happens in life, we sometimes have to make choices and do things that aren't necessarily things that we really want to do. For example, I love fashion, all aspects of it. And I'm in nursing, where I'll be wearing scrubs for a living. Mostly because being a nurse guarantees I'll be able to make a living. Also because in order to support my dreams of living in a cute little house and driving a cute little Austin Mini Cooper require funds.
The nice thing with fashion though, is it is present in so many ways. Magazines for example allow me to easily delve into the world of fashion. I also love to sew. So even if I wear scrubs all day, I can still wear clothes to go out after work. I refuse to wear scrubs out of the hospital as some sort of fashion statement or to let people know that yes, I am a sexy nurse. To be honest though, I did a rotation in Obstetrics and absolutely loved it. So all hope is not lost!
